Smog City Brewing is a local brewery with some really amazing beers for the craft beer lovers. The vibe of this place, with its taco truck directly outside and the free pretzels, makes you feel at home with a good sudsy snack. The beertenders are great, and they all are very friendly. Their growler fills are decent, and they have quite a large selection on tap. Keep an eye on their limited bottle releases and what’s available on new beer Thursdays. Finally, as a matter of a small thing, they love dogs, so you are always welcome to bring your furry friend along with you when you fancy a “cold one”.
Once you enter Smog City you have the taps on the left with tables and seats around. It’s a nice environment to hang out with friends. You might also see some barrels stacked, with their brewing equipment visible which is a nice visual touch. Don’t forget the popcorn; the popcorn machine is up near the entrance and offers fresh popcorn that you can enjoy with your favorite beers.
There are plenty of options at SCB when it comes to craft beers. While they roll out some seasonals and experimental beers from time to time there are enough year round ones too. Some of these that you need to try are-
- Little Bo Pils | 4.4% ABV – This unfiltered pale lager is all about subtlety and balance. Expect a delicate spice, a touch of honey, and rustic white bread on the nose. Flavors of bread crust and light malt meet the spice of traditional Czech Saaz hops and while the finish is crisp and bracingly bitter, everything is in balance.
- Sabre-Toothed Squirrel | 7% ABV- A medium bodied American amber ale that balances a solid hop profile with a light caramel and toasty malt character. A prominent nose of bright citrus, pine, some caramel sweetness, biscuits, and light toasty malt.
- A. Saison | 5.8% ABV -A hazy, deep golden farmhouse style ale with a floral nose, flavors of wheat and white pepper and a smooth, dry finish.
All in all Smog City Brewing is simply great. It is hands down one of the coolest and most brilliant breweries in the CA area. Their blends for the sours are amazing and are enough to warrant a visit.
